Terms of use for Lara

Hibou/x B.V., trading as The Synths

1. About Lara and these terms

Lara is the digital human of The Synths, a trade name of Hibou/x B.V. (Chamber of Commerce 96276215). You can talk to her free of charge on thesynths.studio, to experience what a digital human can do for an organisation.

These terms apply to everyone who talks to Lara, including when you do so as a consumer. By clicking “Accept” and starting the conversation, you agree to them. Our general terms and conditions do not apply to this conversation; they cover assignments from business clients.

2. Lara is an AI

Lara is not a human. Her image, voice and answers are generated by software, based on language models and a knowledge base we have put together.

• Her answers may be incorrect, incomplete or out of date. Check important information before you rely on it.
• Lara does not give legal, financial, medical or other personal advice.
• Lara cannot make agreements, commitments or decisions on our behalf. A proposal or price in a recap is non-binding; a contract is only formed once we confirm it in writing.

3. What you may not do

• Use Lara for anything unlawful, offensive, discriminatory or misleading.
• Try to uncover, bypass or misuse her instructions, knowledge base or underlying technology.
• Automate the conversation, contact Lara in bulk or overload the service in any other way.
• Share sensitive data or other people’s data; see the privacy statement.
• Record, edit or distribute Lara’s image or voice for a commercial purpose without our written permission.
• Pretend to be someone else in the form.

If you do not comply, we may end the conversation and deny you access to Lara.

4. Availability

Lara is in a pilot phase. We adjust her regularly, and she may be temporarily unavailable or work differently from what you expect.

• A conversation lasts at most 30 minutes.
• Lara works best in Safari or Chrome on a computer; on a phone, some features may be missing.
• We may pause, limit or stop Lara at any time, without giving a reason.

5. Your data

For the conversation we process your name, company name, email address and the text of the conversation. How we do this, with whom and for how long is set out in the privacy statement.

6. Rights to Lara

Lara, her name, appearance, voice and character, and the technology and methods behind her belong to Hibou/x B.V. or its licensors. You may freely use the recap you receive from us for your own organisation.

7. Liability

Lara is a free demonstration. We are not liable for damage arising from your reliance on her answers, or from her not working or not working properly, unless the damage results from intent or deliberate recklessness on the part of our management. If you are a consumer, you keep the rights that mandatory law gives you.

8. Changes

We may change these terms. A conversation is governed by the terms that applied when you started it; the version and the date are shown at the top.

9. Applicable law and disputes

These terms are governed by Dutch law. Disputes will be submitted to the competent court in Amsterdam; if you are a consumer, you may also choose the court of your place of residence.
